I am delighted to reveal that Sussex Smokehouse has just been accepted for a pitch at The Pop Up Group’s next market at The Brewery Inn in Ashtead, Surrey on Sunday 26th July 2026.
I’m really looking forward it. Lots to be done beforehand, mind…
In preparation for the market- so I can work out how I should set my table up- I will be doing a giveaway day in Crawley Down where I will be distributing free samples of Tom’s Meaty Nuts (both varieties) and a selection of our specially smoked seasonings for a spell on the afternoon of Sunday 19th July 2026, at our headquarters in the centre of the village. It’s local thing for local people so you’ll need to be in the relevant groups to get details innit.
There will also be a delightful little girl operating a lemonade stand beside me, offering refreshing US-style lemonade, made with our homemade dandelion honey. So you can get a drink and a snack for like £2, all in. And the sun will be shining- what more could you ask for?
A moment worth noting
Selling at events is a big step forward for us. One completely into the unknown. I’m pleased that we get to take this step with the backing of the lovely folk at The Pop Up Group. Starting a business is always daunting, starting one in an industry you have no experience in that is as subjective as artisan food production is genuinely terrifying.
It’d be lovely to see some familiar faces- Ashtead isn’t far from Epsom and I know i know peoples around that part of the world.
