I reckon I know what the result of this experiment will be before we even start.
We know that salt smokes good so it stands to reason that a pretzel would smoke good too.
As with the Mini Cheddars, a couple of hours is likely to be enough.
What we smoked
Not the big, soft lads. I’m not talking Auntie Anne’s. The little, crunchy salted ones you eat like they’re crisps. I picked up a bag of Penn State Salted Pretzels.
The Test
Another simple setup- the pretzels went into one of our smoking cage-tube-thingies and that was placed into the smoker for a little over an hour.
When done, they were vacuum-sealed and taken to a family get together for sampling.
So does it smoke good?
Honestly, I was not a fan, but according to everyone else who tried them- smoked pretzels work. They were very popular with the younger members of the family. I will be making more.
Not sure they’re a viable online seller, but as a little novelty at events- there’s definitely potential.
